Amir Richardson is poised to return to his former club Le Havre after Fiorentina agreed terms for the midfielder to join the French side on loan. The Morocco international is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Friday or Saturday ahead of completing the temporary switch, which includes an €8 million option to buy.

Deal structure

The 24-year-old will move to the Normandy club on a season-long arrangement. Should Le Havre exercise the purchase clause, they would secure Richardson for slightly less than the €9 million Fiorentina paid Stade de Reims to acquire him in the summer of 2024. The midfielder remains contracted to the Italian club until 2029.

Florentine struggles

Richardson’s time in Italy has failed to meet expectations. Despite making 43 appearances across all competitions during his debut campaign, many were brief substitute outings. He registered just two goals and provided one assist for La Viola, with one report suggesting he accumulated merely 414 minutes of first-team football.

Following the appointment of head coach Fabio Grosso, Richardson found himself surplus to requirements and was loaned to FC Copenhagen in January 2026 for the remainder of the previous season. The temporary spell in Denmark offered limited respite, leaving him eager for regular minutes.

Youth product homecoming

The move represents a homecoming for the Nice-born player, who developed through Le Havre’s youth academy between 2019 and 2022 before departing for Reims. He has earned nine senior caps for Morocco having previously represented France at youth level.

Richardson’s departure forms part of a wider squad reshuffle in Florence. Defender Robin Gosens has also agreed to join Schalke 04 on a separate loan deal containing an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
