Arsenal have signed Spain goalkeeper Misa Rodríguez on a free transfer from Real Madrid, completing another key piece of their summer rebuild. The 27-year-old arrives after six years with the Spanish side, where she twice won the Zamora Trophy and served as captain in 2025.
The deal strengthens the squad as the Gunners seek to close the gap on Women’s Super League champions Manchester City, having finished four points adrift in second place last season. Rodríguez becomes the fifth major arrival of the transfer window, following the acquisitions of Georgia Stanway from Bayern Munich, Selina Cerci from Hoffenheim, Ona Batlle from Barcelona and Géraldine Reuteler from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in July 1999, Rodríguez developed through the youth ranks at CD Femarguin before joining Atletico Madrid in 2017. She subsequently moved to Deportivo La Coruña ahead of the 2019-20 campaign, where she established herself as one of Spain’s most promising young goalkeepers and helped the club secure a fourth-place finish in their debut top-flight season.
Her performances in Galicia earned a move to Real Madrid, where she spent six seasons and developed into one of the league’s most consistent shot-stoppers. The Zamora Trophy, awarded to the goalkeeper with the lowest goals-per-game ratio, came her way on two occasions during her time at the Bernabéu.
Rodríguez’s arrival provides experienced competition between the posts as Arsenal prepare for the new WSL campaign. Her international pedigree and leadership qualities add further depth to a squad being reshaped to challenge for the domestic title.
