Monaco Secures Future Talents
AS Monaco has confirmed that four of its promising academy products have signed their first professional contracts, signalling the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent. Among those committing their futures to the Ligue 1 side are Safouane Benzahra, who has already featured for the first team, and Melvin Gomes, who chose Monaco despite reported interest from Premier League giants Chelsea.
The other two players to sign professional deals are Nael Haddani and Najd Aroud. These signings underscore Monaco’s strategy of developing players through its youth system and integrating them into the senior squad.
Benzahra’s First-Team Impact and Long-Term Commitment
Safouane Benzahra, an 18-year-old Morocco youth international, has signed a contract that will keep him at AS Monaco until the summer of 2029. His early progression has seen him make appearances for Monaco’s first team this season, participating in both of the club’s UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers and gaining minutes in Ligue 1 matches.
Other Promising Signings
Centre-back Melvin Gomes, also 18, has committed to Monaco with a contract running until summer 2029. His decision to remain with the French club is notable given the reported interest from Chelsea. Gomes will continue his development within Monaco’s setup, aiming for future first-team opportunities.
Winger Nael Haddani, 17, who represents Morocco at U18 level, has also put pen to paper on a professional deal. Completing the quartet is 18-year-old playmaker Najd Aroud, who has featured for both France and Tunisia at youth international level. Their contracts also extend until the summer of 2029, aligning with the club’s long-term vision for these talents.
All four players are expected to continue gaining experience in Dennis Schmitt’s Groupe Élite, Monaco’s elite development squad. Like Benzahra, Gomes, Haddani, and Aroud could also compete for a place in Filipe Luís’ first-team set-up as they progress through the ranks.
