Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has firmly rejected rumours that Michael Olise could leave the club this summer, insisting the French international remains central to their plans despite reported interest from Real Madrid.
Freund issues definitive statement
Speaking after Bayern’s pre-season friendly defeat to Wiesbaden, Freund left no doubt about the Bundesliga club’s position regarding the 24-year-old winger.
“This is absolutely not an issue for us,” Freund told the media. “We’re delighted that Michael is back from his holiday. He’ll play an important role for FC Bayern this season, just as he did last season too.”
The comments come amid persistent reports linking Olise with a potential switch to the Bernabéu. While Spanish sources suggest Real Madrid maintain an interest in securing his signature, Bayern have repeatedly stated they have no intention of sanctioning a sale.
Long-term deal strengthens Bayern’s hand
Olise, who joined Bayern from Crystal Palace last summer, is tied to the German club until 2029. This lengthy contract provides Bayern with significant leverage should any formal approach materialise.
The former France youth international has recently returned from his post-international break and is expected to rejoin Vincent Kompany’s squad for the remainder of their pre-season preparations.
Despite Freund’s categorical denial, speculation is likely to continue given Olise’s impressive creative output and the ongoing recruitment strategies of Europe’s elite clubs. However, any potential suitor would need to convince Bayern to break their steadfast resolve to retain the attacker.
