Borussia Dortmund and Atlético Madrid have both secured preliminary agreements with Nicolò Tresoldi’s representatives as they vie to sign the Club Brugge striker, though neither transfer can be completed until terms are agreed with the Belgian champions.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Dortmund have reached a basic agreement with the player’s camp regarding a move to the Bundesliga. Atlético, meanwhile, have settled on financial parameters for a potential contract. However, Dortmund remain in a holding pattern regarding formal negotiations with Club Brugge, who hold the 21-year-old’s registration and would command a transfer fee for the Germany Under-21 international.

Roma retreat clears path

Tresoldi appeared destined for Serie A earlier in the window, with AS Roma having identified the Italy-born forward as a primary target. The striker, who has contributed 23 goals and nine assists across 58 appearances for Brugge, was reportedly keen on the move to the Italian capital. Yet Roma have since shifted focus to other transfer priorities, leaving the path clear for Bundesliga and La Liga suitors to pursue the prolific youth international.

Dortmund’s succession planning

The urgency behind Dortmund’s interest stems from uncertainty surrounding current striker Serhou Guirassy. The Guinea international has been linked with a possible switch to Fenerbahçe, and his departure would leave a significant void in the centre-forward position. Tresoldi features prominently on BVB’s shortlist alongside TSG Hoffenheim’s Fisnik Asllani and Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani.

While Dortmund have moved quickly to secure an understanding with Tresoldi’s entourage, Atlético Madrid’s parallel agreement ensures the race for his signature remains competitive. The coming days will determine which club can convert their preliminary accord into a concrete proposal acceptable to Club Brugge, or whether another contender emerges for the forward who has established himself as one of the Belgian Pro League’s most consistent attacking threats.
