Italian club Como have entered negotiations with Turkish giants Galatasaray over a potential transfer for Colombian international defender Davinson Sanchez.

The former Tottenham Hotspur centre-back is reportedly valued at €15 million by Galatasaray. Despite the price tag, talks are progressing as Como look to bolster their squad ahead of an historic campaign.

The Fabregas Factor

Sanchez is understood to be highly receptive to making the switch to Serie A. A significant factor in his decision is the opportunity to work under the guidance of Como head coach Cesc Fabregas. This marks the second consecutive year that the Italian side has been linked with a move for the Colombian defender.

The centre-back, who celebrated his 30th birthday this month, is currently under a long-term contract with Galatasaray that runs until June 2029. He enjoyed a productive campaign in Turkey, making 45 competitive appearances across all competitions and contributing two goals.

Como’s Remarkable Rise

Como’s interest in high-profile signings like Sanchez reflects their rapid ascent in Italian football. Just over two years ago, the club was competing in Serie B. Since then, they have enjoyed a stunning rise, qualifying for the Champions League and reaching the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia this season.

Sanchez brings a wealth of European experience to the table. He first moved to Europe from Colombia in 2016 to join Ajax. His impressive performances in the Netherlands earned him a €42 million transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2017. After several seasons in North London, he moved to Galatasaray in 2023 for a fee of €9.5 million.

With negotiations now in progress, Como will hope to finalise a deal to bring the experienced defender to Italy as they prepare for European football.
