FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that Donald Trump will present the World Cup trophy to the winners following the final on 19 July.

The presentation will take place at the New York New Jersey Stadium. The venue hosted last year’s Club World Cup final under its previous name, MetLife Stadium.

Presentation Plans

Infantino revealed the arrangement during an interview with Fox and Friends, stating: “We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course.” When asked whether the pair might present the trophy jointly, Infantino added: “Of course, we are together all the time.”

The US president has maintained a close association with the FIFA president throughout the tournament’s build-up, with the two having forged a strong working relationship ahead of the finals. However, Trump has not attended any matches since the competition began on 11 June.

Club World Cup Precedent

Trump’s role at the final follows his appearance at the Club World Cup final, where Chelsea lifted the trophy. The US president handed the silverware to captain Reece James but remained on the winners’ podium rather than exiting immediately.

James later recalled: “They told me that he was going to present the trophy and then exit the stage and I thought that he was going to exit the stage, but he wanted to stay.” The defender noted that Trump congratulated the team, though he admitted: “To be honest it was quite loud. I couldn’t hear too much.”

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer also commented on the incident, saying: “I knew he was going to be here, but I didn’t know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy. I was a bit confused, yes.”

Venue and Date

The final on 19 July will conclude the expanded 48-team tournament, which is being hosted across the United States. The New York New Jersey Stadium will provide the setting for both the trophy presentation and the culmination of the competition.
