FC Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has confirmed that Bara Sapoko Ndiaye will join the club on a permanent transfer following his initial loan spell.
Freund told BILD on Saturday that the 18-year-old Senegalese international is set to complete the move from Gambinos Stars. “The final details still need to be clarified, but I expect him to start the season with us,” Freund said. “Bara (Ndiaye) will undergo performance tests on Monday and then join the training camp in Tegernsee.”
From Gambinos Stars to Permanent Bayern Deal
Ndiaye initially made a sensational move to the Allianz Arena on a six-month loan agreement from Gambinos Stars. The defender featured four times in the Bundesliga during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign, earning valuable top-flight minutes as Vincent Kompany rotated his squad during the closing stages of the season.
Bayern secured the league title with games to spare, allowing the manager to blood younger players alongside established stars. Ndiaye took advantage of these opportunities to impress the coaching staff, convincing the club to convert his temporary stay into a permanent arrangement before the new campaign begins.
International Pedigree
The centre-back has already tasted major tournament football at the highest level. He represented Senegal at the World Cup, where the Teranga Lions exited at the Round of 32 stage following a defeat to Belgium.
His involvement with the national team at age 18 underlines his potential and explains why Bayern have moved quickly to secure his long-term future despite the relatively brief initial loan period.
Pre-Season Integration
The confirmation of the permanent transfer comes as Bayern begin their preparations for the new campaign. The reigning champions commenced their pre-season schedule with a 2-1 friendly defeat to Wehen Wiesbaden.
Ndiaye is expected to link up with his new teammates immediately after completing the necessary medical and administrative formalities. The training camp in Tegernsee will provide the first opportunity for Kompany to assess the defender alongside his senior squad ahead of the competitive season restart.
The Senegalese teenager therefore looks set to play a part in Bayern’s defence for the 2026/27 season, having successfully transitioned from a short-term prospect to a permanent member of the first-team squad.
