Milan stand on the brink of a historic recruitment drive as they close in on Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal that will rewrite the club’s financial record books.

The Rossoneri have struck an agreement to sign the Portuguese international ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. According to reports from transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the fixed transfer fee is set at €74m. However, Italian outlets indicate that the total outlay could ultimately surpass €80m once all performance-related bonuses and commission payments are accounted for.

Record transfer fee

The proposed deal represents a significant escalation in Milan’s spending power. It would comfortably dwarf their previous transfer record of €49.4m, which was paid to French club Lille in 2019 to secure Rafael Leão. While that acquisition was financed over several instalments, the Ramos agreement marks a decisive shift towards immediate major investment in a single elite talent, with the fixed fee alone exceeding the previous benchmark by roughly €25m.

Highest earner status

Beyond the headline transfer figure, Ramos is set to command a guaranteed salary of €7m per season, making him Milan’s highest-paid player. Rafael Leão currently occupies the top position with base wages of approximately €7m, though the Portuguese winger’s total package is enhanced by various performance bonuses. Ramos’s guaranteed terms ensure he will sit alone at the summit of the club’s wage structure regardless of on-pitch targets.

The transfer is nearing completion as Milan prepare their squad for the forthcoming 2026-27 season.
