AC Milan are closing in on a club-record deal to sign Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain. The Serie A club are expected to pay between €53 million and €55 million including add-ons and bonuses, which would make the Portugal international the most expensive player in the Rossoneri’s history.
According to The Athletic, Calciomercato and RMC Sport, Milan and PSG have reached an agreement over the transfer. Reports suggest Ramos has already undergone medical tests in Florida, where the Portugal squad are stationed during the World Cup.
The fee would eclipse the €49.5 million that Milan paid for Rafael Leão in 2018. That deal initially cost €30 million, but the club subsequently paid an additional €20.2 million in compensation after Leão lost a legal battle with former club Sporting CP over the termination of his contract.
Milan’s biggest investments
The anticipated outlay significantly exceeds Milan’s previous spending under their current ownership. Leonardo Bonucci ranks as the second-most expensive signing at €42 million from Juventus in 2017, while Manuel Rui Costa cost €41.32 million from Fiorentina in 2001.
Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paquetá joined from Flamengo for €38.4 million in 2018-19, narrowly ahead of fellow Portuguese forward André Silva, who arrived from FC Porto for €38 million the previous summer. Mattia Caldara completes the top six at €37.74 million following his move from Juventus in 2018-19, though the defender made only three appearances for the club before persistent injuries led to his retirement in 2025 following spells at Atalanta, Venezia, Spezia and Modena.
Transfer status
Although neither club has issued an official statement, sources indicate the deal is at an advanced stage. The financial package includes performance-related bonuses that could take the total to €55 million.
Ramos would arrive at San Siro as Milan’s record signing, surpassing the previous benchmark that has stood since Leão’s arrival from Lille in 2018.
