Guglielmo Vicario has made clear his intention to leave Tottenham Hotspur, with Juventus emerging as the frontrunners to secure the Italy international. Spurs are reportedly open to a loan arrangement with an option to buy, potentially paving the way for the goalkeeper’s departure this summer.
The 27-year-old has effectively said his goodbyes at the North London club following the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi as head coach. The Italian manager does not count Vicario among his core plans, prompting the former Empoli keeper to seek opportunities elsewhere. An earlier possibility of joining Inter Milan has faded, leaving Juventus as the primary suitor.
Tottenham value Vicario at €20 million, a substantial figure that reflects his standing as an established Premier League goalkeeper. However, the proposed loan-with-option structure would allow Juventus to delay the full financial outlay. Personal terms remain a sticking point: Vicario currently earns €2.6 million net per season on a contract running until 30 June 2028, but is seeking approximately €4 million annually to move to Turin.
Juventus’s interest in Vicario has intensified as their pursuit of Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez has cooled. Villa are asking for around €10 million for the Argentine World Cup winner—substantially less than Vicario’s valuation—but Martínez’s wage demands of €5 million over three years and his status as four years Vicario’s senior have shifted the Turin club’s focus toward the Tottenham keeper.
For Juventus, securing a new first-choice goalkeeper has become a priority ahead of the new campaign. The loan structure under discussion would provide financial flexibility while addressing their immediate need between the posts. However, the gap between Vicario’s current salary and his demands at Juventus requires resolution before any agreement can be finalised.
