Hertha BSC have completed their first summer acquisition by securing Oluwaseun Adewumi on a temporary basis from Burnley FC. The attacking player has already linked up with the squad at their pre-season training camp as preparations intensify for the upcoming campaign.
Belgian experience
The move follows a productive spell in Belgium last season, where Adewumi represented Cercle Brugge. During that loan period, he contributed six goals across 33 competitive appearances, gaining valuable experience in mainland European football.
Hertha officials view that seasoning as a significant asset. Sporting director Benjamin Weber highlighted the attacker’s flexibility as a key attribute, noting that the player can operate in several roles across the forward line.

Weber expressed particular satisfaction at securing the deal. “We are delighted that we were able to sign Oluwaseun,” he stated. “Despite his young age, he has already gained experience in various competitions. He will strengthen our attack with his versatility, pace and dynamism.”

Adewumi remains contracted to the English Championship club until 2028, yet the Berlin-based outfit have not confirmed whether the arrangement contains an option to purchase him outright. This uncertainty leaves the door open for several outcomes regarding his long-term status beyond the current loan period.
The signing adds immediate depth to Hertha’s offensive unit as they look to build a squad capable of competing at the level required for the season ahead. Adewumi’s presence at the training camp suggests he could feature in upcoming friendly fixtures as he integrates with his new teammates.
