Inter Milan are weighing up a formal approach for Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah after the Premier League club rejected a €30m bid from Como.
The Nerazzurri have identified the England international as a potential defensive reinforcement, though they have not yet submitted an official proposal. Chelsea value the 24-year-old at €35m, a valuation that prompted them to turn down an offer from Serie A newcomers Como that included add-ons.
Summer priorities
Inter’s search for defensive reinforcements follows the collapse of their move for Marco Palestra, who opted to join Chelsea instead of the defending Italian champions. This setback has left the Milan club pursuing alternatives across their backline as they prepare to defend their Serie A title.
Simone Inzaghi’s side are also targeting upgrades on the right flank. For the wing-back role, Inter have identified Union Saint-Gilloise’s Anan Khalaili as their primary objective. Securing the 21-year-old would require a fee of at least €25m, and the club have held positive discussions with the player’s representatives in recent days.
Valuation gap
The difference between Como’s rejected €30m offer and Chelsea’s €35m asking price suggests negotiations for Chalobah could prove delicate. The defender, who can operate at centre-back or in midfield, has attracted interest following his performances at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues appear unwilling to lower their demands.
Inter must now decide whether to meet Chelsea’s valuation or seek alternative targets. With the transfer window progressing, the Serie A club face pressure to secure their defensive additions before the new campaign begins.
