Internazionale begin German camp with dominant display

Inter Milan launched their pre-season preparations with a commanding 16-0 victory against lower-league German opposition SV Aasen in Donaueschingen. Italy international Pio Esposito delivered the standout performance, netting five times after the interval as the Serie A champions ran riot against their regional league opponents.

Cristian Chivu, overseeing the squad during the training camp, deployed two entirely different starting elevens for each half of Wednesday’s contest. The first period yielded six goals, while the second half produced ten as the Nerazzurri combined established senior players with emerging academy talents.

Goal glut spread across both halves

Davide Frattesi opened the scoring inside the first minute and doubled his tally after eleven minutes. Luka Topalović, a 20-year-old who featured with the club’s U23 side last term, struck a hat-trick with efforts in the 15th, 20th and 38th minutes. Mattia Mosconi added the sixth goal before the break.

The second half belonged largely to Esposito, who found the net in the 52nd, 67th, 82nd, 87th and 89th minutes. Midfielder Andy Diouf and 18-year-old winger Jamal Iddrissou both contributed braces, while Federico Dimarco also registered among the scorers.

Squad rotation and line-ups

The opening forty-five minutes featured Raffaele Di Gennaro in goal behind a defence including Benjamin Pavard, Kristjan Asllani and Alessandro Bastoni. The midfield comprised L. Henrique, Frattesi, Piotr Zieliński, Enoch Akinsanmiro and Matteo Marello, with Mosconi and Topalović leading the attack.

Changes at the interval saw José Martínez replace Di Gennaro between the posts. The second-half defence consisted of Yann Aurel Bisseck, Giacomo De Pieri Bovio and Carlos Augusto. Nicolò Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aleksandar Stanković controlled midfield alongside Diouf and Dimarco, supporting the forward pairing of Esposito and Iddrissou.

Inter are based in Donaueschingen for their pre-season training camp, conducting double sessions on Monday and Tuesday before this opening friendly. The comprehensive workout provided valuable minutes for both senior internationals and prospects ahead of the club’s competitive return.
