Juventus sporting director Giovanni Carnevali has warned that the club will abandon their pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani unless Paris Saint-Germain reduce their €40 million asking price for the French forward.
The Bianconeri have been attempting to secure the 26-year-old on a permanent basis since his loan move in January 2025. That initial deal cost €3.6 million and was subsequently extended to cover the Club World Cup in July 2025. However, following a subsequent loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur, Kolo Muani returned to PSG this summer with his long-term future still unresolved despite months of talks.
Valuation Gap Forces Juventus Hand
Speaking on RAI GR Parlamento radio, Carnevali conceded that negotiations have reached an impasse. “The demands are too high, so either we reach an agreement, or we will turn to a different player,” he said. Juventus have refused to meet the €40 million valuation, prompting PSG to open discussions with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace over a potential transfer to the Premier League.
Carnevali highlighted the growing financial disparity between Serie A and England’s top flight, explaining how this affects Italian clubs’ ability to compete for signatures. “The cost of players is growing constantly, with figures that are practically impossible, while Serie A club revenue cannot keep up with the likes of the Premier League,” he observed. “We need to reduce costs and have an economic balance, which is difficult to achieve. There’s no point denying it, you can all see that our league is in a situation of stasis for the transfer market.”
The stand-off leaves Juventus facing a critical decision in their attacking recruitment. Kolo Muani featured for the Bianconeri during the first half of 2025 before his temporary switch to North London, yet the club’s hierarchy remains unwilling to sanction a major outlay for a player who has spent recent months away from the Allianz Stadium.
Frattesi Approach Ruled Out
The Juventus director also addressed speculation linking the club with Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi, who is available for transfer this window. Despite representing a cheaper domestic option, Carnevali dismissed the possibility. “Frattesi is an extraordinary lad who would do well at all big clubs, but we do not need a player of his characteristics,” he stated.
With PSG actively negotiating with English clubs and Juventus unwilling to stretch their budget, the Turin giants appear poised to identify alternative attacking targets before the window closes. Both Aston Villa and Crystal Palace can offer European competition and financial packages that Carnevali admits Italian sides cannot match, placing further pressure on Juventus to accelerate their search should the Kolo Muani deal collapse entirely.
