New Juventus director Giovanni Carnevali has moved to clarify the club’s position on several transfer matters, confirming that striker Dusan Vlahovic is “not in our thoughts” despite his contract expiring at the end of the month.

Carnevali, who recently replaced Damien Comolli and previously served as Sassuolo chief executive, addressed multiple ongoing negotiations during comments to Sky Sport Italia at an event marking the opening of the Serie A transfer window.

Vlahovic future uncertain

Regarding Vlahovic, whose deal expires on 30 June with a reduced-salary renewal on the table, Carnevali stated: “Personally, I have never spoken to him.” He added that while “anything is possible in football,” the Serbia international is currently not part of their immediate planning despite his status as “an important player.”

Miretti-Lucumi swap talks stall

The former Sassuolo director also shed light on potential exchange talks with Bologna involving midfielder Fabio Miretti and defender Jhon Lucumi. Negotiations appear stalled, with Carnevali suggesting the Rossoblu remain approximately €2 million short of Juventus’s valuation for Miretti.

“I don’t think it will be easy to get this agreed,” Carnevali admitted. “Firstly because we believe in Miretti, and above all feel that he has a certain value on the market. I think at this moment we do not have the right conditions to sell him, especially as we do not need to make sales right now.”

Regarding Colombian centre-back Lucumi, who is currently competing at the World Cup and carries a €28 million release clause, Carnevali expressed interest but not at current terms. “We believe he is an important player and he could interest us, but not at these conditions,” he said.

Muharemovic buyback considered

Carnevali also addressed the curious case of Tarik Muharemovic, a defender Juventus sold to Sassuolo in 2025 for €2 million while retaining 50 per cent of any future transfer fee. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international now finds himself back on Juventus’s radar, with Carnevali—who negotiated the original deal for Sassuolo—now representing the Turin club’s interest.

“Muharemovic is a player I know perfectly well, so we know what he can do and his great promise,” Carnevali noted. “We’ve got to think about the type of offers that are there, because we do still own 50 per cent of him.”

He indicated that any move would depend on whether foreign clubs enter the bidding, stating: “In this case, we’ll evaluate what opportunities there could be especially if selling abroad, but at the same time we are monitoring him, because he could be interesting for Juventus.”

The situation leaves Juventus with several unresolved squad matters as they navigate the early stages of the summer window, with Carnevali’s comments suggesting a measured approach to both incomings and outgoings.
