Juventus are stepping up their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani with an improved offer of €40 million after an initial bid was rejected, as talks between the clubs continue ahead of the Bianconeri’s pre-season return.
The Turin club’s chief executive, Giovanni Carnevali, received public backing from Monza executive Adriano Galliani on Saturday evening, who revealed that Carnevali was occupied with urgent transfer business rather than attending a charity gala in Forte dei Marmi. Speaking at the “United for Meyer” event, held at Andrea Bocelli’s Tuscan estate to benefit the Meyer Paediatric Hospital in Florence, Galliani explained his friend’s absence by stating Carnevali was “out and about here in Forte dei Marmi doing transfer business,” according to Tuttosport. While Galliani declined to name the specific target, reports indicate the Juventus chief is actively working to secure Kolo Muani’s signature.
Revised offer and structure
Juventus opened negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain several weeks ago, tabling an initial proposal worth €33 million. However, PSG sporting director Luis Campos rebuffed that approach, prompting the Serie A club to prepare an improved bid. Juventus are now ready to meet the French champions’ €40 million valuation for the 26-year-old France international.
The proposed deal is likely to be structured as a paid loan with a conditional obligation to buy. This arrangement would allow Juventus to spread the financial commitment while ensuring the transfer becomes permanent should certain sporting conditions be fulfilled during the loan period.
Pre-season deadline drives urgency
Both parties are keen to conclude negotiations quickly, albeit for different reasons. Paris Saint-Germain are continuing to reduce their squad size after sanctioning the departure of striker Gonçalo Ramos, and view Kolo Muani’s exit as a further step in that streamlining process.
For Juventus, the imperative is to provide manager Luciano Spalletti with his preferred centre-forward option before the squad assembles for pre-season training on 13 July. The Italian club have made securing an attacking reinforcement their priority this summer, and Kolo Muani represents their primary target to lead the line in the forthcoming campaign.
Carnevali’s hands-on approach reflects a broader shift in Juventus’s recruitment strategy, placing renewed emphasis on direct dialogue and personal relationships with counterparts at other clubs. This marks a departure from previous transfer methodologies and has already attracted favourable comment from established figures within Italian football, including Galliani’s recent remarks.
Discussions between the clubs remain active as Juventus seek to finalise the deal before their players return to training.
