Austria international Konrad Laimer has confirmed that negotiations over a contract extension with Bayern Munich are advancing, but stressed that the agreement is not yet finalised. The 29-year-old midfielder, whose current deal runs until 2027, is reportedly in line for an extension beyond that date.

Speaking to ServusTV, Laimer offered a cautiously optimistic update on the discussions. “It’s not official yet. But it’s definitely on a very good path,” he said. The midfielder declined to confirm that the deal was complete, aligning his public comments with recent reports suggesting terms have not been fully settled.

International duty takes precedence

For now, Laimer insists his attention remains fixed on the World Cup with Austria. “I’m concentrating on the here and now. That’s always been my approach. I hope we’ll be here for a very long time,” he told ServusTV.

This focus on the tournament suggests any formal announcement regarding his Bayern future may be delayed until after Austria’s campaign concludes. The midfielder is keen to avoid distractions while representing his country.

While the exact terms remain under discussion, the positive nature of the talks indicates that Bayern are eager to retain the 29-year-old beyond his current deal. The existing agreement still has two years left to run.

Until the paperwork is signed, however, the situation retains an element of uncertainty. Supporters will likely need to wait until Austria’s World Cup campaign ends for definitive news on the midfielder’s future in Munich.
