Leeds United have identified Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as their primary target to replace Illan Meslier following the Frenchman’s transfer to Arsenal. The Yorkshire club are preparing to submit a formal offer for the Japan international as they move swiftly to fill the vacancy between the posts ahead of the new campaign.

The Gunners have officially announced the signing of Meslier, with the 26-year-old France international ending a seven-year association with Leeds United. During his time at Elland Road, the goalkeeper established himself as a reliable presence, making 215 appearances across all competitions and recording 70 clean sheets. He will wear the number 30 shirt at the North London club.
Meslier’s departure creates a significant gap in the squad that manager Daniel Farke must address urgently. The club have prioritised the goalkeeper position in their recruitment strategy and view Suzuki as the leading candidate to assume the number one role.
