PULSER FOOTBALL NEWS-5

Lille OSC have completed the signing of teenage right-back Loun Srdanovic from Swiss club Servette FC, securing the 19-year-old on a four-year contract. The transfer was formalised on Monday as the Ligue 1 side strengthens its defensive ranks ahead of the new campaign.

The move addresses an urgent need for depth at full-back. Thomas Meunier, who featured prominently last season, is out of contract and expected to depart the Stade Pierre Mauroy. The Belgium international has attracted concrete interest from English Championship side Hull City and Spanish outfit Valencia, making his exit increasingly probable. Although Tiago Santos is available to assume the starting role, manager Bruno Génésio required additional cover, prompting the recruitment of the Switzerland Under-19 international.

Srdanovic arrives with first-team experience despite his youth. He made 17 appearances across all competitions for Servette last term, demonstrating sufficient readiness for top-flight football. His capture represents a strategic blend of immediate squad depth and long-term potential as Lille balance competitive ambitions with sustainable recruitment.

Rapid Negotiations

Negotiations between the clubs advanced swiftly. Reports on Monday morning indicated the Switzerland youth international was nearing a switch to northern France, and official confirmation followed within hours. The rapid conclusion suggests Lille had identified Srdanovic as their primary target to resolve the impending vacancy at right-back.

Squad Transition

With Meunier’s departure appearing inevitable, Srdanovic will likely serve initially as deputy to Santos while adapting to the demands of French football. The four-year commitment indicates the club view the teenager as a significant part of their future defensive setup, rather than merely a short-term solution.

The transfer underscores Lille’s proactive approach to squad management as they prepare for life without their experienced Belgian defender.
