AS Monaco are hoping to secure a second loan spell for Simon Adingra, though the Sunderland forward is attracting substantial interest from clubs seeking a permanent transfer. The Ivorian international, who spent the latter part of last season with the Ligue 1 side, has emerged as a target for West Ham United, AS Roma, RB Leipzig, Ipswich Town and Hull City.

According to reports, West Ham have already opened discussions with the 24-year-old as they look to strengthen their attacking options. However, any deal would require negotiations with Sunderland, who hold Adingra under contract until 2030.

Monaco spell and World Cup credentials

Adingra joined Monaco on a temporary basis for the second half of the recent campaign, making 17 appearances under manager Sébastien Pocognoli. He contributed three goals and two assists during that stint, form that helped him secure a place in the Ivory Coast squad for the World Cup under head coach Emerse Faé.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion winger featured for his country at the tournament, appearing in their 2-1 defeat to Germany. His performances on the international stage have reinforced his reputation as a versatile attacking threat capable of operating across the front line.

Transfer landscape and valuation

While Monaco favour another loan arrangement, the cluster of Premier League and Serie A interest suggests a permanent move is more likely should Sunderland decide to sell. RB Leipzig and Roma offer the prospect of Champions League football, while West Ham and the other English suitors could provide a return to the top flight.

Adingra’s long-term contract puts Sunderland in a strong negotiating position, though the player’s ambitions may influence the outcome. Valuation estimates from Transfermarkt place the winger at approximately €22 million. With West Ham reportedly leading the chase among the permanent suitors, the Championship club must decide whether to cash in on an asset with several years remaining on his deal or sanction another temporary exit to aid his development.

The coming weeks will determine whether Adingra returns to the Premier League, makes a permanent switch to continental Europe, or heads back to the Stade Louis II for a second loan spell.
