Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Renato Marin is closing in on a temporary switch to CD Nacional. The 19-year-old, who will celebrate his twentieth birthday next month, is set to spend the forthcoming campaign with the Portuguese top-flight outfit. The arrangement will be a simple loan agreement, with no provision for a permanent transfer included.

Marin poised for Portuguese loan spell

The Italo-Brazilian custodian arrived at Parc des Princes from AS Roma twelve months ago. He was signed to serve as third-choice shot-stopper behind Lucas Chevalier, another summer recruit from Lille OSC, and Matvey Safonov. Despite his position in the goalkeeping hierarchy, Marin managed three outings across all competitions for the reigning European champions during his debut season in the French capital.

Limited opportunities prompt departure

Although Luis Enrique holds the young keeper in high regard, the Spaniard recognises that Marin faces significant barriers to regular first-team football in Paris. With two experienced operators ahead of him in the pecking order, the teenager’s immediate prospects of sustained action remain restricted.

Consequently, the club determined earlier in the transfer window that a temporary departure would serve the player’s development best. Nacional, who secured their Primeira Liga status with a fourteenth-place finish last term, have emerged as the preferred destination. The club will offer Marin valuable senior experience in a competitive environment.

Future remains in Paris

The absence of a purchase clause in the proposed agreement underscores PSG’s long-term commitment to the former Roma prospect. The Ligue 1 giants view him as a talent for the future rather than a surplus asset. Enrique’s admiration for the goalkeeper suggests the coaching staff anticipate his return to challenge for a more prominent role once he has accumulated regular minutes elsewhere.

Marin’s proposed relocation to Portugal represents a pragmatic solution for all parties. The keeper gains the prospect of consistent match practice, while PSG retain control over a promising young asset who remains part of their strategic planning beyond the current campaign.
