The 37-year-old moves to the United States after allowing his agreement with Barcelona to expire, ending a four-season spell in Catalonia during which he scored 83 goals in 134 league appearances. He departs Spain having contributed to three La Liga titles and having maintained a prolific scoring record that has defined his career across Europe’s top divisions.

The signing represents a significant coup for Chicago, bringing a player whose 697 goals for club and country since 2008 place him seventh on the all-time list and third among active professionals, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Lewandowski’s most celebrated club spell came during eight seasons with Bayern Munich, where he struck 344 times in 375 matches—a total second only to Gerd Müller in the club’s history. That tenure yielded ten Bundesliga titles and the 2020 Champions League, cementing his reputation as one of the most reliable marksmen in modern European football. He previously spent four campaigns with Borussia Dortmund, meaning he amassed 12 consecutive seasons in Germany’s top flight before his 2022 switch to Barcelona.
At international level, Lewandowski remains Poland’s record appearance-maker with 167 caps and their leading scorer with 89 goals, representing his country at four European Championships and two World Cups.
