Roma have secured a basic agreement on personal terms with Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, yet the Serie A club cannot finalise the transfer until they sell Artem Dovbyk.

The 21-year-old emerged as the Jupiler Pro League’s highest goalscorer during the 2025-26 campaign, attracting attention from across Europe. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, intermediary Alessandro Moggi has brokered the preliminary understanding between the Italian side and the forward.

Valuation gap remains

Club Brugge are demanding between €25 million and €30 million for Tresoldi. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports the Belgian club value him at the lower figure, while other outlets suggest the fee could reach €30 million. Either way, Roma are attempting to drive the price down.

The Giallorossi manager Gian Piero Gasperini wants Tresoldi to rotate and compete with Donyell Malen in attack. However, the prospective signing creates a logistical complication: Dovbyk currently occupies the central striking role, and his sale is essential to free both the necessary funds and playing time.

International competition

Atletico Madrid have also registered interest in the forward, potentially complicating Roma’s pursuit. Tresoldi was born in Italy to Italian parents but relocated to Germany at age 13 to join Hannover 96. He has since earned caps for Germany at Under-19 and Under-21 levels, though he remains eligible for Italy.

The striker’s departure from Club Brugge appears increasingly likely as the summer window progresses, but Roma must first find a buyer for Dovbyk before they can formally table an acceptable bid.
