Club Brugge have rejected a reported €35 million offer from Roma for German-Italian forward Nicolò Tresoldi, though negotiations between the clubs are continuing.
Despite the refusal, the Belgian champions remain in active discussions with the Serie A side. Multiple sources indicate that Tresoldi is keen to complete the move to the Stadio Olimpico and is particularly attracted by the prospect of working under manager Gian Piero Gasperini. The 21-year-old reportedly views the project in Rome as an ideal next step in his development at this stage of his career.
Rapid Rise in Value
Tresoldi has seen his market value increase dramatically since joining Club Brugge from Hanover 96 last summer for just €7.5 million. The striker, who turns 22 next month, enjoyed an outstanding debut season in Belgium, scoring 23 goals and registering nine assists across 58 appearances in all competitions.
Born in Italy but raised in Germany from a young age following his family’s relocation, Tresoldi has featured for Germany at various youth levels. He was recently overlooked for the 2026 World Cup squad, a development that leaves the door open for a potential future switch to represent Italy at senior level should he establish himself in Serie A.
Striker Search Continues
Roma have identified Tresoldi as a direct replacement for Artem Dovbyk. While the Giallorossi have focused primarily on strengthening their wide attacking options during the current transfer window, securing a central forward has become a priority for Gasperini’s squad rebuild.
Club Brugge are understandably reluctant to sell after just one season, particularly given the substantial profit they stand to make on their initial investment. However, the player’s clear desire to join Roma could yet prove decisive as talks progress.
With time remaining in the transfer window, Roma may need to submit an improved bid to meet Club Brugge’s valuation. The Belgian club hold a strong negotiating position having secured the player only 12 months ago, yet Tresoldi’s enthusiasm for the switch to the Italian capital provides encouragement that a deal can still be concluded.
