Schalke secured their first pre-season victory with a 4-2 away success against Regionalliga opponents Erzgebirge Aue. The result provides vital early momentum for the Royal Blues as they build towards their return to the Bundesliga following last season’s promotion.

Head coach Miron Muslić selected a starting eleven similar to the one that achieved promotion last term, indicating his trust in the core group that secured top-flight status. Summer arrival Junior Adamu began the match as Muslić offered him another chance to stake his claim. The visitors controlled the contest throughout the opening period, dominating possession and creating chances. They reached the interval with a deserved 2-0 advantage thanks to Moussa Sylla’s double.
