Al-Hilal manager Simone Inzaghi was a target for several Italian clubs this summer, his agent Federico Pastorello has confirmed. However, Inzaghi opted to remain with the Saudi Arabian club, with a decision on his long-term future set to be made at the end of the current season.

Pastorello, speaking to Sportmediaset via Calciomercato.com, indicated that interest from Italy has been consistent. He stated that there was no need for clubs to even approach Inzaghi this summer, as the coach’s desire was to stay at Al-Hilal.

Inzaghi’s Journey to Al-Hilal

Simone Inzaghi made the move to Riyadh in June 2025, departing Inter days after their 5-0 defeat in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. He signed a two-year contract with Al-Hilal, which is set to run until June 2027. Reports suggest his deal is worth approximately €26 million per season.

Before his tenure in Saudi Arabia, Inzaghi enjoyed a successful career in Italy. He spent five years managing Lazio, where he secured the Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa titles. His move to Inter in 2021 saw him achieve further success, winning the Scudetto, two Coppa Italia titles, and three Supercoppe. He also guided Inter to two Champions League finals during his time at the club.

Pastorello suggested that Inzaghi’s year of experience in Saudi Arabia has been beneficial. Regarding a potential return to Italy, the agent noted that nothing is definitively ruled out, and the wishes of Al-Hilal will also be a factor when Inzaghi assesses his situation at the close of the season.

Acerbi’s Club Search Continues

In a related development, Federico Pastorello also represents veteran defender Francesco Acerbi, who has been without a club since his contract with Inter expired in June. Acerbi, 38, previously played under Inzaghi at both Lazio and Inter.

Pastorello confirmed that Acerbi is eager to return to competitive football. Over the summer, Sassuolo and Bologna were linked with a move for the defender. However, Atalanta reportedly ruled out signing Acerbi last month, leaving his future uncertain as he seeks a suitable club.
