The Bundesliga champions are actively seeking new destinations for the three players as they look to streamline the squad for the 2026/27 campaign. Eberl stated that while the players retain the right to train and attempt to prove themselves during pre-season, the club’s strategic planning has moved beyond them.

“We would like to let go of those players because, if they stay, they will find it very difficult to get playing time here,” Eberl explained. He added: “As far as our squad planning is concerned, we have other ideas.”

Fringe roles

Palhinha, who joined Bayern from Fulham, has struggled to establish himself in midfield since his arrival. Zaragoza has similarly found opportunities limited following his move from Granada, while Boey has also been restricted to a marginal role at right-back due to strong competition for places.

Bayern hope to secure moves for all three to avoid carrying surplus senior players into a demanding campaign featuring domestic and European commitments. The club is prepared to sanction either permanent transfers or loan arrangements to ensure the players receive competitive minutes elsewhere, rather than spending the season on the periphery of the first-team setup.

Window dynamics

With four weeks remaining in the transfer window, Eberl acknowledged that finding suitable deals may require patience. He suggested that movement could accelerate as other clubs assess their needs following European qualification matches or react to injury situations during pre-season preparations.

“At some point in August, clubs will assess their squads. Some may have qualified for European competitions, while others may have suffered injuries, so we’ll have to wait and see,” he said. “But there’s already movement in the market.”

Bayern will continue negotiations with interested parties as they work to finalise Kompany’s streamlined group before the deadline.
