Former Republic of Ireland international and Olympique de Marseille striker Tony Cascarino has labelled France‘s attacking quartet the most frightening he has witnessed ahead of their World Cup quarter-final against Morocco.

Speaking to Get French Football News, Cascarino expressed admiration for Les Bleus’ forward depth as they prepare for the knockout clash. France enter the match as tournament favourites, boasting an arsenal of attacking talent that the former striker believes surpasses even legendary forward lines.

Unprecedented Forward Options

Cascarino highlighted the depth available to the French squad, singling out Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé. He compared their collective threat to famous attacking trios of past tournaments, noting that France possess four elite options rather than three.

“They’ve got the most frightening four I’ve ever seen,” Cascarino told Get French Football News. “We’ve all seen threes, like Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, and Ronaldo. But when I look at them… who’s going to stop them?”

The former Marseille forward pointed to Marcus Thuram’s status as France’s sixth-choice attacker to illustrate their remarkable depth. Thuram, who scored 19 goals for Inter last season, provides an alternative style of play should the starters require support.

Mbappé’s Added Dimension

Beyond the individual quality, Cascarino identified a tactical evolution in Kylian Mbappé’s game that could prove decisive. He noted the captain’s increased willingness to perform defensive duties, a shift from previous tournaments.

Cascarino observed Mbappé chasing down defenders and making challenges during recent matches, a development he believes adds another layer to France’s threat. “When I saw Mbappé chase a defender and make a challenge, I thought, ‘That’s it,'” he said. “He’s openly admitted that he’s going to have to do that for them to win it.”

He added: “If he’s prepared to do that, then they’re an even bigger problem… That’s a problem for everybody else.”

France will face Morocco in the quarter-final with their formidable attack and renewed defensive commitment from key players positioning them as strong contenders to advance.
