Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea should ignore previous bosses when searching for their next permanent manager. The former Liverpool defender has urged the Blues to consider Como head coach Cesc Fabregas instead of returning to old names.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher ruled out any chance of Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho or Frank Lampard taking charge again. He stated that the club needs fresh ideas rather than familiar faces.

“You can probably rule out the bottom three,” Carragher explained. “They have all managed Chelsea before, so I do not see that happening.”

The pundit pointed to Fabregas as the ideal solution. The ex-Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder has impressed in his first senior management role in Italy. Carragher described the Spaniard as one of the most exciting new coaching talents after guiding Como towards European qualification.

Carragher also praised Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola and mentioned former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis, who has enjoyed success in management. However, he warned that any new boss faces serious problems at Stamford Bridge.

The television analyst launched a fierce attack on the club’s owners. He called the situation “shocking” and blamed senior figures for damaging the team. Carragher noted that despite having top players, the squad recently lost to a weakened Nottingham Forest side.

He expressed concern about future signings. Carragher argued that young talents will refuse to join because the club sells players too quickly. He questioned how supporters can connect with the team when the squad changes constantly.

Fabregas spent four and a half years at Chelsea as a player between 2014 and 2019. He won two Premier League titles during his time in West London. His recent work at Como, where he has lifted the club close to European spots, has marked him as one of Europe’s most promising young coaches.
