Arsenal are through to their first Champions League final since 2006. Bukayo Saka scored the only goal as the Gunners beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 on Tuesday night.

The winger struck just before half-time at the Emirates Stadium. He scored after Jan Oblak saved a shot from Leandro Trossard. This gave Arsenal a 2-1 win over the two matches.

Mikel Arteta’s team defended well to protect their lead. Declan Rice made a crucial tackle to stop Giuliano Simeone early in the match. Gabriel Magalhaes also blocked the same player after the break.

The victory keeps Arsenal on course for a historic double. They have won forty-one matches this season, equalling their club record. They have also set a new club record by going fourteen European matches without defeat.

The Gunners kept their thirtieth clean sheet of the season. This means they have not conceded in thirty games across all competitions. This equals their best total from the 1993-94 season.

Viktor Gyokeres missed a good chance to extend the lead late in the game. The striker fired over the crossbar from close range.

Arteta ran onto the pitch to celebrate with his players at the final whistle. Arsenal will now face either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain in the final in Budapest on May 30th. Before that, they play West Ham United in the Premier League this weekend.
