Borussia Dortmund defender Ramy Bensebaini is expected to sit out the club’s remaining Bundesliga fixtures this season. The Algerian left-back continues to suffer from foot pain and will not feature in Friday’s home clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Manager Niko Kovač delivered the injury update during his press conference on Wednesday. The Croatian coach ruled Bensebaini out of the trip to Werder Bremen as well. “Ramy will not be available. He continues to suffer from foot pain,” Kovač explained. “I do not believe he will recover in time for the match in Bremen. His Bundesliga campaign is effectively over.”
However, there is positive news for supporters. Three first-team players are nearing full fitness. Winger Karim Adeyemi, centre-back Niklas Süle and midfielder Felix Nmecha have all stepped up their rehabilitation this week.
Adeyemi is certain to join the squad for the Frankfurt match. The German international has completed his recovery programme. Meanwhile, medical staff will assess Süle and Nmecha after Thursday’s final training session. “We have one more session tomorrow,” Kovač stated. “Then we will decide if Niki and Felix are ready for the weekend.”
