Italian defender Diego Coppola is set to end his temporary stay at Paris FC and return to Brighton and Hove Albion. The 22-year-old centre-back joined the French club on loan in January, but the move will not become permanent.
According to French newspaper Le Parisien, Coppola’s representatives have confirmed there is a “99 per cent chance” he will head back to the Amex Stadium for the new season. His loan spell in Ligue 1 has proven successful, with 13 starts across all competitions helping Paris FC secure their top-flight status with two games to spare.
Coppola’s impressive displays at the heart of the defence also earned him a recall to the Italy national team back in March. Despite earlier talks about a full transfer to the French capital, the former Hellas Verona player will instead resume his career on the south coast of England.
The young defender still has several years left on his contract with the Seagulls. His deal is set to run until 2030, giving Brighton ample time to assess his development upon his return.
