Former France player William Gallas has strongly criticised Chelsea for spending lots of money without winning big trophies. He told Get French Football News that the club’s owners are not running the team well despite investing heavily in new players.
Gallas talked about the problems at three clubs where he used to play. He said Olympique de Marseille face big pressure from passionate fans. He also explained that the players and manager do not communicate well there. Tottenham Hotspur won the Europa League last season but did not fix their main problems. Now they are fighting to stay in the Premier League.
The former defender said changing managers many times has not helped Chelsea. He noted that winning the Club World Cup is not enough for the money the club has spent. The fans remain angry about the direction the club is taking.
Gallas thinks Arsenal can beat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. He said one game can produce any result, and Arsenal can win if the French side play badly. However, he warned that PSG showed excellent defence in their semi-final match. This strength will worry Arsenal, who cannot simply attack freely.
He also looked at centre-back William Saliba. Gallas said Saliba plays very well for Arsenal but makes silly mistakes for France. He needs to improve his concentration when playing for his country.
Finally, Gallas gave his opinion on France’s attacking players. He believes Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Michael Olise should start. Rayan Cherki should wait on the bench. He worries this attacking group does not defend well, so Didier Deschamps must think carefully about balance against strong teams.
