Kathleen Krüger has ended her long career at Bayern Munich. The 40-year-old is set to join Hamburger SV as their new sporting director.
Krüger spent 17 years working for the Bavarian club. She will officially start her new job on July 1. She takes over from Stefan Kuntz, who left the post in January.
Currently, she works as head of organisation and infrastructure at Bayern. She also played for the club’s women’s side during her football career.
Michael Papenfuß, chairman of the HSV supervisory board, welcomed the move. He praised Krüger’s leadership skills and experience at the highest level. She will share responsibility for the club’s future with chief financial officer Eric Huwer.
Her new role covers all sporting areas. This includes the men’s first team, the women’s squad, and the youth development programme.
Krüger said she feels honoured to join one of Germany’s biggest clubs. She noted HSV’s recent improvements and promised to continue this progress. She looks forward to working with the staff and teams across all departments.
