Borussia Mönchengladbach are close to completing the capture of David Herold. The Bundesliga club have finalised an agreement with SC Karlsruhe for the transfer of the 23-year-old defender.

The two clubs have settled on a fee for the Bavaria-born full-back. The transfer is expected to cost the Rhineland outfit between €3.5 million and €4 million.

The player already gave his word on personal terms late last month. He is now scheduled to undergo a medical before putting pen to paper on a long-term deal that runs until 2030.

Herold has spent the current campaign in the 2. Bundesliga. He has provided seven assists from the left flank across 32 league outings for the Baden-based side.

The move would mark the Mindelheim native’s step up to Germany’s top division. He will look to establish himself in the first-team squad at Borussia-Park next season.
