Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva has set a clear deadline for his next career move. The Portugal international will choose his new employer before the 2026 World Cup begins.

Silva told Sport TV that he wants to resolve his future between the end of the season and the start of national team training. “The World Cup is too important. I need a clear head,” he explained.

The 31-year-old’s contract at the Etihad Stadium expires on June 30. He confirmed earlier this year that he will leave the Premier League champions as a free agent.

Juventus remain the favourites to secure his signature. Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti called Silva personally in April to discuss the transfer. The Turin side currently sits third in the league table.

However, Silva has closed the door on a return to Benfica for the 2026-27 campaign. “I want to return one day, but not now. I do not know if they will want me when I am ready,” he stated.

Barcelona and Galatasaray also show interest in the attacking midfielder. Silva has contributed three goals and five assists across 50 appearances this term.

Juventus hold a narrow one-point lead over Roma and AC Milan in the race for Champions League qualification. Just two matches remain in the Serie A season.
