AS Monaco are pushing hard to complete the signing of defender Flávio Nazinho. The 22-year-old currently plays for Cercle Brugge in the Belgian Pro League.

The French side need a new left-back for next season. Krépin Diatta will depart when his contract expires at the end of June. The club has decided not to renew his deal. Diatta has served as a rotation option in defence this term.

Nazinho has emerged as the top target to fill this gap. The Portuguese youth international made 32 appearances for Cercle Brugge this campaign. He scored three goals and registered eight assists from the back.

Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart have also shown interest in the player. However, Monaco hold a clear advantage in the chase. Both Monaco and Cercle Brugge operate under the same ownership structure. This connection should make it easier to agree a fee.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Monaco currently lead the race. They expect to win the battle against the German club for his signature.
