Karlsruher SC are on the verge of naming Maximilian Senft as their new boss. The German second-tier side want the 36-year-old Austrian to take over at the start of the 2026-27 campaign.
Negotiations between the club and the coach are now in the final stages. Senft has already told his current employers, SV Ried, that he will leave this summer.
Despite working with the second-smallest budget in their division, Senft has led Ried to the brink of the Conference League. His attractive, high-pressing style of play has earned him praise across Austria.
Karlsruher officials say Senft impressed them more than any other candidate during interviews. The club finished tenth in the 2. Bundesliga this term and believe he is the right man to improve their fortunes.
The tactician will remain with Ried for their last two matches. These are playoff finals against Rapid Wien. After these games, he will move to Germany to begin his new role.
Away from the pitch, Senft is also a successful poker player. In 2014, he finished eleventh at the World Poker Championship.
