  • Conflicting media reports appear regarding Tim Kleindienst’s international future
  • The 30-year-old Borussia Mönchengladbach forward has battled knee problems this term
  • Other attackers including Niclas Füllkrug and Jonathan Burkardt reportedly face exclusion
  • Kleindienst boasts an impressive record of four goals in six matches for Germany
  • The striker managed only a four-minute appearance against Hoffenheim at the weekend

Reports disagree about Tim Kleindienst’s chances of joining Germany’s World Cup squad. The Borussia Mönchengladbach centre-forward faces an uncertain international future following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

German broadcaster ntv claims the 30-year-old will probably make Julian Nagelsmann’s selection. However, Sky Germany states the attacker will miss the tournament entirely.

Earlier reports suggested Julian Nagelsmann will leave out Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jonathan Burkardt and West Ham United’s Niclas Füllkrug. This could create space in the attack for a new face.

Yet his inclusion would shock many supporters. The player has spent most of this season recovering from a knee injury. He has only featured for ten minutes across four matches this campaign.

The forward returned to the pitch last weekend. He played four minutes during Gladbach’s 4-0 victory against Hoffenheim.

Before his injury, Kleindienst was key for Germany. He found the net four times in six games under Nagelsmann.
