Borussia Mönchengladbach are on the verge of securing the signature of Ukrainian defender Yukhym Konoplya. The Bundesliga side have finalised terms with the right-back according to Sky Germany.

Transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg confirms that the player will undergo his medical on Friday. The 26-year-old is expected to sign a four-year deal with the German club.

Konoplya will join the Foals without a transfer fee from Shakhtar Donetsk. His current contract with the Ukrainian champions allows him to leave for free.

This season, the defender has made 27 appearances in all competitions for Shakhtar. He has found the net twice and set up four goals for his teammates.

The move marks a return to German football links for the player. Werder Bremen attempted to sign him during the January window, but that transfer collapsed.

Now Konoplya will compete in the Bundesliga. The deal runs until the summer of 2029.
