Allegri’s Suspension Confirmed

Massimiliano Allegri has decided against appealing his two-match suspension, confirming he will miss Napoli‘s upcoming Serie A encounter against Monza. The decision means the manager will be absent from the touchline for the crucial match, scheduled for Wednesday evening at 19:45 GMT.

The ban stems from an outburst following Napoli’s recent 3-3 draw with Roma. Allegri had previously been handed the suspension but opted not to challenge it further, stating he might otherwise face a longer ban.

Defensive Focus and Player Updates

Ahead of the Monza game, Allegri addressed the press, highlighting Napoli’s need for defensive improvement. He pointed to statistics from recent matches, noting that while the team has conceded only two goals in first halves this season, they have let in eight during second halves. This data, he suggested, indicates specific areas for the team to work on.

Allegri also provided updates on player fitness. Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, who played the full 90 minutes against Roma, is being managed carefully after recent injury issues. Amir Rrahmani has rejoined the squad after a lengthy absence, though his full return to match fitness will require time. Antonio Vergara is also available for selection.

Forward Options for Monza Clash

Looking at attacking options, Allegri indicated that Lorenzo Lucca is expected to get an opportunity to play. This comes as Rasmus Hojlund, another forward, has not found the net in his last eight club appearances. Allegri praised Hojlund’s physical strength and overall performance despite the goal drought, noting he had three significant chances in the previous game.
