Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß has admitted that sporting director Max Eberl might not remain at the Bundesliga giants. In an interview with Der Spiegel, Hoeneß explained that the chances of Eberl signing a new contract currently stand at sixty to forty.
“There are still doubts,” Hoeneß stated. He noted that club rules prevent board members from discussing contract renewals until one year before their current agreements expire.
The final decision will rest with Bayern’s supervisory board during their meeting in August. They must determine whether Eberl is the right person to guide the club into the future.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his position, Hoeneß praised the sporting director for his contributions this season. He credited Eberl with playing a major role in Bayern’s success through his smart recruitment of new players.
