German second-tier club Hamburger SV have completed the signing of defensive midfielder Kofi Amoako. The 20-year-old becomes the Hanseatic outfit’s first new arrival for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
The Germany Under-20 international joins from SG Dynamo Dresden, where he spent the previous campaign. During his time in Saxony, Amoako featured in 33 matches across all competitions, scoring once and registering one assist.
Born in Hannover, the young midfielder developed through the prestigious VfL Wolfsburg academy. He subsequently gained senior experience during a loan spell with VfL Osnabrück in the third tier before establishing himself with Dresden.
HSV sporting director Claus Costa expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition. He stated that Amoako brings an exciting combination of physical strength, athletic ability, and intensity without possession. Costa further highlighted the player’s competence in tackles, ball control, and tactical flexibility.
The club believes the defensive midfielder will enhance their playing style and continues to possess significant room for growth. Officials completed the transfer ahead of the new campaign, securing a long-term asset for the squad.
