Ansu Fati Faces Another Layoff

AS Monaco‘s 23-year-old forward, Ansu Fati, is expected to be out of action for around six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury. The setback occurred during Sunday’s 1-1 Ligue 1 draw against Lille OSC at the Stade Louis II.

Fati was forced off the pitch just 15 minutes into the match, with Mathys Detourbet coming on as his replacement. The injury is a significant blow for both the player and the club, especially as Fati had only recently returned to consistent play.

A Season of Setbacks

This latest injury adds to what has been an injury-hit start to the season for the Spanish playmaker. He had previously missed the beginning of the campaign due to another injury, making his return to the squad a gradual process.

Despite the earlier setback, Fati had begun to show glimpses of his quality. The previous week, he made his first Ligue 1 start of the season. He also made an impact in a 3-0 victory against SC Freiburg, coming off the bench in the second half on Thursday to score a goal. Following this, he made back-to-back starts in Ligue 1, featuring in the No.10 position against Lille before his unfortunate early exit.

Impact on Monaco

Fati’s absence will be keenly felt by AS Monaco as they navigate a crucial period of their season. Having just started to regain match fitness and contribute offensively, his enforced layoff means the club will be without a key attacking option for an extended period.

The hope is that Fati will be able to return to action shortly before the short winter break scheduled for the end of December, allowing him to rejoin the squad for the second half of the season.
