- The Hammers cannot sign the defender permanently after relegation to the Championship.
- Several clubs have already asked about signing the 28-year-old French centre-back.
- Disasi made 17 appearances for West Ham and impressed manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Axel Disasi is preparing to head back to Stamford Bridge. The French centre-back joined West Ham United on loan in January, but his time in east London will not become a permanent switch.
The Hammers suffered relegation from the Premier League on Sunday. They beat Leeds United, but the victory could not save them from the drop. As a result, the club will play in the EFL Championship next season.
West Ham had planned to make Disasi’s stay permanent if they stayed up. The Portuguese manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, viewed the 28-year-old as a key target for his defence. Disasi played 17 matches and showed strong form during his short spell.
Now, the London Stadium side cannot meet the financial demands of a permanent deal. The defender will therefore return to his parent club, Chelsea.
Disasi faces another uncertain period at Chelsea. He spent the first half of the campaign watching from the sidelines. The Blues had sent him to Aston Villa earlier in the season to attract buyers, but that move failed. He finally left for West Ham in the winter window.
According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea do not plan to keep the Frenchman. The club expects to sell him this summer. Multiple teams have already made enquiries about the centre-back. His future likely lies away from both West Ham and Chelsea.
