Pierre Sage has declared that managing Liverpool represents his ultimate career ambition. The RC Lens head coach made this revelation during a recent interview with the French television programme Téléfoot.

Despite his long-term dream, Sage has firmly committed his immediate future to Lens. He has dismissed speculation linking him with a summer departure, insisting he will honour his contract with the French side.

Doubts over his position had grown following Lens’ victory in the Coupe de France. Sage had previously spoken about holding discussions with other clubs, which raised questions about his loyalty to the team. However, he has now rejected these rumours, confirming he will lead the club into their new Champions League campaign.

Several European sides, including English club Crystal Palace, had reportedly shown interest in appointing him. Sage’s comments regarding Liverpool come at a time when Arne Slot faces pressure regarding his own position at Anfield.

The Frenchman also expressed a desire to return to Olympique Lyonnais one day. Sage guided Lyon to the Coupe de France final and secured Europa League qualification for them two seasons ago. The club replaced him with Paulo Fonseca midway through the following campaign.
