VfB Stuttgart have completed the signing of goalkeeper Marius Funk. The player joins from Energie Cottbus on a permanent deal.
The shot-stopper started his career in Stuttgart’s youth system. He left the club in 2016 to find regular playing time. Now, ten years later, he comes back to the Bundesliga side.
Funk is 30 years old. He played as the first-choice keeper for Energie Cottbus during the 2025/26 campaign. The club won promotion to the 2. Bundesliga. Funk played a big part in this success with his performances between the sticks.
Fabian Wohlgemuth works as the sporting director at Stuttgart. He spoke about the new signing. He said Funk learned his trade at Stuttgart as a young player.
