AS Roma have confirmed that Dutch forward Donyell Malen has joined the club on a permanent basis from Aston Villa. The Italian side paid €25 million for his signature.

The 25-year-old initially moved to the Stadio Olimpico on loan during the January transfer window. The original deal included a clause that made the transfer compulsory if the team qualified for European competition.

Roma secured their place in next season’s Champions League after finishing in the top four of Serie A. This achievement activated the obligation to buy. The club announced the news on their official website on Tuesday.

Malen has signed a contract that keeps him at the club until June 2030. He made an immediate impact after arriving in January, scoring 15 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions. This included 14 goals in 18 league matches.

The Netherlands international joined Roma from Aston Villa during the winter transfer period. Reports from Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed the transfer fee and contract details.

The forward’s excellent form helped the Giallorossi secure a return to Europe’s top club competition. He will now look to build on his impressive start when the new season begins.
