Italian media reports indicate that Henrikh Mkhitaryan has chosen to continue his playing career with Inter Milan. The experienced midfielder had been weighing up retirement, but has now opted to remain with the Nerazzurri for the 2026-27 season.
The 37-year-old’s existing agreement runs out at the end of the current campaign. The club granted him complete freedom to decide between hanging up his boots or signing an extension for another year.
Despite his age, Mkhitaryan remains a valuable member of Cristian Chivu’s squad. He offers essential leadership during a summer transition period, with Inter set to bid farewell to several senior figures including Francesco Acerbi, Matteo Darmian and Yann Sommer.
This season, the former Armenia captain has featured in 39 matches across all competitions. He found the net four times and provided three assists from his position in the centre of the park.
According to respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Mkhitaryan will meet with club officials in the coming days to finalise the financial details of his new contract. The deal will secure his services at the Giuseppe Meazza for at least one more campaign.
